REMOVAL
1.
Remove two flywheel bolts (Figure 1, Item 3) 180 degrees apart from one another.
2.
Install two flywheel housing alignment studs (Figure 1, Item 5) in flywheel bolt holes.
3.
Remove remaining 10 flywheel bolts (Figure 1, Item 3) and scuff plate (Figure 1, Item 2) from flywheel
(Figure 1, Item 4).
4.
Attach engine and transmission lifting sling to flywheel (Figure 1, Item 4).
5.
Attach chain hoist to the flywheel lifting sling to support flywheel (Figure 1, Item 4).
WARNING
Keep away from hanging loads, heavy parts, and overhead equipment. Never crawl under
equipment when performing maintenance unless equipment is securely blocked. Use
suitable lifting devices to move hanging loads and heavy parts. Equipment may fall. Always
use a helper to guide load. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury or death.

END OF TASK
INSTALLATION
NOTE
New flywheel bolts should be used. If old flywheel bolts are determined
serviceable, they should be cleaned thoroughly before reuse.
The flywheel bolt tap depth in the 8V92 engine crankshaft has been shortened
from 2.620 in. to 1.620 in., starting with engine serial number 8VF-3120. With this
change, the shorter flywheel bolts can be used on the older engines. The longer
bolts cannot be used on the newer engines.
1.
Attach flywheel lifting sling and chain hoist to new flywheel (Figure 1, Item 4).
2.
Using flywheel housing alignment studs (Figure 1, Item 5), install flywheel (Figure 1, Item 4) on crankshaft
(Figure 1, Item 1) and align bolt holes in the flywheel with bolt holes in crankshaft.
