7.
Install two straight headless pins (Figure 4, Item 13) into cylinder head outboard corner bolt holes.
8.
Attach lifting fixture (Figure 4, Item 10) to cylinder head and lift.
9.
Wipe bottom of cylinder head (Figure 4, Item 7) with cleaning cloth.
CAUTION
Once cylinder head has been positioned on block over guide studs, do not move it. Failure
to comply may result in seals to shift which could cause leaks and damage to equipment.
10.
Visually check that all cylinder head compression gaskets (Figure 4, Item 1), seals (Figure 4, Items 11, 14,
and 15), and shims (Figure 4, Item 2) are in proper position.
11.
Lower cylinder head (Figure 4, Item 7) over guide studs (Figure 4, Item 13) and onto cylinder block
(Figure 4, Item 12).
WARNING
Compound may cause irritation to eyes or skin. In case compound comes in contact with
eyes or skin, immediately flush eyes with water, wash skin with soap and water. Wear
protective goggles, gloves, and clothing. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury
or death.
12.
Apply antiseize compound to 10 cylinder head attaching bolts (Figure 4, Item 3) threads and underside of
bolt heads.
13.
Install eight cylinder head six point bolts (Figure 4, Item 3) with flat washers (Figure 4, Item 4) through each
piloting sleeve at inboard corners of cylinder head.
14.
Tighten bolts (Figure 4, Item 3) finger tight.
15.
Remove three nuts (Figure 4, Item 9), washers (Figure 4, Item 8), and lifting tool (Figure 4, Item 10).
16.
Remove two straight headless pins (Figure 4, Item 13).
17.
Install two cylinder head six point bolts (Figure 4, Item 5) with 11/16 in. washers (Figure 4, Item 6) where
guide studs (Figure 4, Item 13) were removed.
18.
Tighten bolts (Figure 4, Item 5) finger tight.
