NOTE
The following procedure is typical for removal and installation of blower assembly for both
port and starboard engines.
REMOVAL
WARNING
Fuel/Oil may cause irritation to eyes or skin. Wear protective goggles, gloves, and clothing.
Failure to comply may result in personnel injury or death.
1.
Disconnect oil pressure line (Figure 1, Item 1) fittings between blower (Figure 1, Item 2) and blower drive
support (Figure 1, Item 10).
2.
Remove oil pressure line (Figure 1, Item 1).
3.
Remove hose clamp (Figure 1, Item 11) on blower drive support-to-blower seal (Figure 1, Item 12).
4.
Remove four bolts (Figure 1, Item 4) and washers (Figure 1, Item 3) from top of blower (Figure 1, Item 2).
5.
Remove six blower-to-block bolts (Figure 1, Item 6) and retaining washers (Figure 1, Item 7) from sides of
blower (Figure 1, Item 2).
6.
Install two eye bolts (Figure 1, Item 5) diagonally in top of blower (Figure 1, Item 2) housing.
7.
Attach sling to eye bolts (Figure 1, Item 5).
WARNING
Handling heavily weighted objects can cause bodily injury. Do not lift materials or
equipment over 50 lb (23 kg) without using appropriate material handling equipment.
Ensure proper lifting techniques are followed when removing or installing heavy
components. Use assistant(s) and/or suitable lifting device when lifting heavy parts of
components. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury, death, and/or damage
to equipment.
8.
Using sling, lift blower (Figure 1, Item 2) slightly and move forward to detach blower from blower seal
(Figure 1, Item 12).
9.
Using sling, lift blower (Figure 1, Item 2) up and away from block (Figure 1, Item 9).
10.
Remove sling.
11.
Remove eye bolts (Figure 1, Item 5) used to lift blower (Figure 1, Item 2).
12.
Remove blower gasket (Figure 1, Item 8) from block (Figure 1, Item 9). Discard gasket.
