ENGINE STARTS WITH DIFFICULTY AND RUNS ROUGH - Continued
MALFUNCTION
Low compression.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Perform engine compression test. Contact Maintenance Supervisor.
2.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
3.
Remove air box covers and inspect compression rings through ports in cylinder liners. Contact
Maintenance Supervisor.
4.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
5.
Rebuild cylinder and liner assemblies if rings are badly worn or broken. Contact Maintenance
Supervisor.
6.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
7.
Repair cylinder head exhaust valves. Contact Maintenance Supervisor.
8.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
9.
Verify blower is functioning. Repair as necessary. Contact Maintenance Supervisor.
10.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
11.
Verify blower bypass valve is not stuck open. Replace as necessary (WP 0108).
12.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
MALFUNCTION
Governor instability (hunting).
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Check governor-to-injector for linkage binding (TM 55-1925-205-10).
2.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
