A pressure gauge snubber is thereforeinstalled in the line that leads to the pressuregauge.The purpose of the snubber is to dampen theoscillations and thus provide a steady reading andprotection for the gauge. The basic componentsof a snubber are the housing, fitting assembly witha fixed orifice diameter, and a pin and plungerassembly (fig. 8-16). The snubbing action isobtained by metering fluid through the snubber.The fitting assembly orifice restricts the amountof fluid that flows to the gauge, thereby snubbingthe force of a pressure surge.
