WARNING
Handling heavily weighted objects can cause bodily injury. Do not lift materials or
equipment over 50 lb (23 kg) without using appropriate material handling equipment.
Ensure proper lifting techniques are followed when removing or installing heavy
components. Use assistant(s) and/or suitable lifting device when lifting heavy parts of
components. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury, death, and/or damage
to equipment.
REMOVAL
1.
Remove two connecting pins (Figure 1, Item 5) and two washers (Figure 1, Item 6) from shaft assembly
(Figure 1, Item 8) securing two fuel rods (Figure 1, Item 7).
2.
Remove two fuel rods (Figure 1, Item 7).
3.
Loosen four hose clamps (Figure 1, Item 3) from two fuel rod cover tube hoses (Figure 1, Item 4).
4.
Slide each fuel rod cover hose (Figure 1, Item 4) and hose clamps (Figure 1, Item 3) up on tube
(Figure 1, Item 2) in governor drive housing (Figure 1, Item 1).
5.
Remove two fuel rods (Figure 1, Item 7) through opening in governor drive housing (Figure 1, Item 1).

CAUTION
The fuel pipes need to be returned to original location and orientation. Failure to comply
may result in damage to equipment.
6.
Tag eight fuel pipes (Figure 2, Item 5).
7.
Loosen 16 fuel line nuts (Figure 2, Item 6) and remove fuel pipes (Figure 2, Item 5).
NOTE
Checking torque of cylinder head bolts before removing may reveal cause of any cylinder
head failures.
8.
Before removing cylinder head (Figure 2, Item 11), check torque of 100 ft-lb (135.6 Nm) on each cylinder
head bolt (Figure 2, Item 2).
