Remove cam follower (Figure 2, Item 4) from heated lubricating oil.
NOTE
Oil hole in cam follower must face away from exhaust valve.

Install cam follower (Figure 2, Item 4) into cylinder head (Figure 2, Item 1).
7.
Install cam follower guide (Figure 2, Item 5) on cylinder head (Figure 2, Item 1).
8.
Install two new lockwashers (Figure 1, Item 4) and bolts (Figure 2, Item 3) to secure cam follower guide
(Figure 2, Item 5) to cylinder head (Figure 2, Item 1).
9.
Using torque wrench and socket set, tighten bolts (Figure 2, Item 3) to 180 in-lb (20.34 Nm).
10.
Using feeler gage, verify minimum clearance between cam follower guide (Figure 2, Item 5) and cam
follower (Figure 2, Item 4) is 0.0005 in. (0.00127 cm).
11.
If clearance between cam follower guide (Figure 2, Item 5) and cam follower (Figure 2, Item 4) is less than
0.0005 in. (0.00127 cm), loosen two bolts (Figure 2, Item 3).
12.
Using brass drift and hammer, tap each corner of cam follower guide (Figure 2, Item 5) to obtain required
clearance.
13.
Using feeler gage (Figure 2, Item 6), verify minimum clearance between cam follower guide
(Figure 2, Item 5) and cam follower (Figure 2, Item 4) is 0.0005 in. (0.00127 cm).
14.
Using torque wrench and socket set, tighten bolts (Figure 2, Item 3) to 180 in-lb (20.34 Nm).
15.
Using feeler gage (Figure 2, Item 6), verify minimum clearance between cam follower guide
(Figure 2, Item 5) and cam follower (Figure 2, Item 4) is 0.0005 in. (0.00127 cm).
16.
Remove cylinder head (Figure 2, Item 1) from two wooden wedges (Figure 2, Item 2).
