Inspect air filter element (Figure 2, Item 2) for rips or tears in screening fiber filter core. Replace air filter
element if any damage found during inspection.

WARNING
Cleaning compound (MIL-PRF-29602) may cause irritation to the eyes or skin. Use in
well-ventilated areas and keep away from heat and open flame. Wear protective goggles
and clothing. In case compound comes in contact with:
Eyes, flush immediately with water.
Skin, wash with soap and water.
Failure to comply may result in personnel injury or death.

Use cleaner to clean retainer springs (Figure 2, Items 3 and 6), air inlet collector assembly
(Figure 2, Item 5), plate (Figure 2, Item 1), and air restriction gauge (Figure 2, Item 4).
WARNING
Do not exceed 40 PSI (280 kPa) when using compressed air for drying components.
Failure to comply may result in serious injury to personnel.

Using compressed air, dry retainer springs (Figure 2, Items 3 and 6), collector assembly (Figure 2, Item 5),
plate (Figure 2, Item 1) and air restriction gauge (Figure 2, Item 4).

Tap air filter element (Figure 2, Item 2) to loosen and dislodge any large, embedded particles or dirt.
4.
Gently brush air filter element (Figure 2, Item 2) with soft bristle stencil brush.
5.
Using filter cleaning kit, clean air filter element (Figure 2, Item 2).
CAUTION
Do not use compressed air or heat dryers to dry air filter element as damage to the
element may result.

Rinse off air filter element (Figure 2, Item 2) with low pressure water

Shake off excess water and allow air filter element (Figure 2, Item 2) to air dry. Placing in sunlight is
allowable.
