NOTE
This troubleshooting procedure is typical for both port and starboard engines.
TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE
ENGINE FAILS TO STOP WHEN EMERGENCY STOP IS ACTIVATED
SYMPTOM
Emergency stop solenoid fails to stop diesel engine.
MALFUNCTION
Short circuit between solenoid and stop button on engine junction box A4.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Using a multimeter, check for continuity between solenoid and stop button on engine junction
box A4. If continuity is not present, repair or replace wiring as necessary (TM 55-1925-205-23).
2.
Perform operational check of emergency stop solenoid (TM 55-1925-205-10).
MALFUNCTION
Loose connection on solenoid.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Check connections and tighten, as necessary (TM 55-1925-205-23).
2.
Perform operational check of emergency stop solenoid (TM 55-1925-205-10).
