6.
After engine reaches normal operating temperature, run engine for five minutes.
7.
Shut down engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
WARNING
Do not remove pressure control cap from heat exchanger or attempt to drain the solution
until engine has cooled. Sudden release of pressure can result in loss of solution. Failure
to comply may result in personnel injury or death.
8.
Drain cooling system completely, as follows:
a.
Remove pressure control cap (Figure 3, Item 1) from heat exchanger (Figure 3, Item 10) by pressing
down and rotating counterclockwise.
b.
Position drain pans under drain cocks (Figure 3, Item 3) below right and left exhaust manifold elbows
(Figure 3, Item 2).
WARNING
Accidental or intentional introduction of liquid contaminants into the
environment may result in a violation of state, federal, and military regulations.
Refer to local environmental office for information concerning storage, use, and
disposal of these liquids. Failure to comply may cause damage to environment
and health of personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of injury.
Fuel/solvent/oil is slippery and may cause falls. Wipe up spillage immediately
with rags. Dispose of materials in accordance with local hazardous waste
disposal procedures. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury or death
and/or damage to equipment.
c.
Open two drain cocks (Figure 3, Item 3) on right and left side of engine and drain cleaning solution into
drain pans.
d.
Position drain pans under drain cocks (Figure 3, Item 8) located on right and left side of cylinder block
e.
Open two drain cocks (Figure 3, Item 8) on right and left side of engine and drain cleaning solution into
drain pans.
f.
Position drain pans under drain cock (Figure 3, Item 6) at bottom of oil cooler (Figure 3, Item 7).
g.
Open drain cock (Figure 3, Item 6) and drain cleaning solution into drain pans.
h.
Position drain pans under drain cock (Figure 3, Item 5) below heat exchanger (Figure 3, Item 4).
i.
Open drain cock (Figure 3, Item 5) and drain cleaning solution into drain pans.
9.
Close all drain cocks (Figure 3, Items 3, 5, 6, and 8).
10.
Remove drain pans and dispose of contents in accordance with local procedures.
