When dumpingawkward loads, dump slowly to reduce the shock ofweight transfer to the rear axle when the bucket isemptied.Improper Uses of the MultipurposeBucketEquipment Operators have created techniques toperform a variety of construction operations usingloaders equipped with the multipurpose (4-in-1) bucket. However, these techniques can cause UNNECES-SARY DAMAGE to multipurpose (4-in-1) buckets bysubjecting them to conditions they were not designedfor. Some of the ways a multipurpose bucket shouldNOT be used are as follows: Do NOT use the rollback as a force to pull stumpsor buried objects from the ground, because this maybend the clamshell (fig. 9-28).Do NOT attempt to break off buried or anchoredobjects with the clamshell by back dragging, becausethis may bend the clamshell (fig. 9-29).Do NOT attempt to break off buried or anchoredobjects by side loading the clamshell, especially whenopened, because this may bend the sides of the clamshell(fig. 9-30).9-12
