TEST FRESH WATER COOLING SYSTEM THERMOSTAT - Continued
CORRECTIVE ACTION - Continued
WARNING
Heating element and water will be extremely hot use caution when
handling. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury.
Remove any rings, bracelets, wristwatches, and neck chains before
working on vessel. Jewelry can catch on equipment and cause injury, or
may short across electrical circuit and cause severe burns or electrical
shock. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury or death.
6.
Agitate the hot water to disperse the temperature evenly throughout water.
7.
As water is heated, verify thermostat (Figure 1, Item 1) opens at approximately 188F to 197F
(85C to 92C) on the thermometer (Figure 1, Item 2).
8.
Allow thermometer (Figure 1, Item 2) to stabilize for approximately 10 minutes after reaching the
desired temperature.
9.
Verify thermometer (Figure 1, Item 2) temperature to ensure validity of thermostat
(Figure 1, Item 1) opening point.
10.
Turn off heating element (Figure 1, Item 4).

Fuel/Oil may cause irritation to eyes or skin. Wear protective goggles, gloves,
and clothing. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury or death.
11.
Remove thermostat (Figure 1, Item 1) from utility pail (Figure 1, Item 3).
12.
Allow thermostat (Figure 1, Item 1) to cool and watch it close.
