Using a torque wrench, torque hex nuts (9) on the back side of the crankshafts (10, 11) to 300 ft lbs (407 N-m).

Position two retainers (3, 7) on cam gears (4, 8).
10. Position two adaptors (2, 6) on retainers (3, 7).
11. Install eight cap screws (1, 5) securing adaptors and retainers to cam gear.
12. Using a torque wrench and socket set, torque screws (1, 5) to 480 in. lbs (54 N-m).
13. Remove cleaning cloth between gears (4, 8).
CAUTION
If clearance is not within limits, the gears should be replaced.
14. Check the backlash between gears (4, 8) for a clearance of 0.002 in. - 0.010 in.
15. Install rear crankshaft oil seal. (WP 0062)
16. Install flywheel housing. (WP 0072)
17. Install electrical system hour meter mounting bracket. (WP 0162)
18. Install electrical system hour meter. (WP 0161)
19. Install raw water pump. (WP 0155)
20. Remove engine from stand. (WP 0033)
21. Install lube oil cooler. (WP 0128)
22. Install marine gear oil cooler mounting bracket. (WP 0158)
23. Install overspeed governor. (WP 0169)
24. Install dipstick tube. (WP 0130)
25. Install starter motor. (WP 0164)
26. Install air box drains. (WP 0037)
27. Install air box covers. (WP 0036)
