CAUTION
The stamped metal oil pan used on marine engines has a thin, protective coating on the
outer surface to shield the metal against salt water corrosion. Do not rest, slide or
otherwise scratch the outer surface of the oil pan or electrolysis will take place and
corrosion to the oil pan will result. Failure to comply may result in damage to equipment.
1.
Using cleaner, clean new oil pan (Figure 2, Item 2).
WARNING
Do not exceed 40 PSI (280 kPa) when using compressed air for drying components.
Failure to comply may result in serious injury to personnel.
CAUTION
When drying oil pan with compressed air, do not exceed 40 PSI (280 kPa). Failure to
comply will cause damage to the protective coating.
2.
Dry oil pan (Figure 2, Item 2) with compressed air.
WARNING
Sealing compound may cause irritation to the eyes or skin. Use in well-ventilated area.
Wear protective goggles and clothing. In case sealing compound comes in contact with:
Eyes, flush immediately with water.
Skin, wash with soap and water.
Failure to comply may result in personnel injury.
3.
Apply sealing compound to mating surface of oil pan (Figure 2, Item 2).
4.
Align holes in new gasket (Figure 2, Item 1) with holes in oil pan (Figure 2, Item 2) and position gasket on oil
pan surface.
