REMOVAL
WARNING
Accidental or intentional introduction of liquid contaminants into the environment
may result in a violation of state, federal, and military regulations. Refer to local
environmental office for information concerning storage, use, and disposal of
these liquids. Failure to comply may cause damage to environment and health
of personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of injury.
Fuel/solvent/oil is slippery and may cause falls. Wipe up spillage immediately with
rags. Dispose of materials in accordance with local hazardous waste disposal
procedures. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury or death and/or
damage to equipment.
NOTE
The following procedure is typical for both port and starboard engines.
1.
Remove port thermostats (Figure 1, Item 5).
a.
Position a drain pan under thermostats (Figure 1, Item 5).
b.
Remove six capscrews (Figure 1, Item 1) and lockwashers (Figure 1, Item 2) from the port bank
thermostat housing cover (Figure 1, Item 3).
c.
Remove thermostat housing cover (Figure 1, Item 3) from the thermostat housing (Figure 1, Item 7).
d.
Remove two thermostats (Figure 1, Item 5) from thermostat housing cover (Figure 1, Item 3).
Discard thermostats.
e.
Remove two seals (Figure 1, Item 4) from thermostat housing cover (Figure 1, Item 3). Discard seals.
f.
Remove gasket (Figure 1, Item 6) from thermostat housing (Figure 1, Item 7). Discard gasket.
g.
Remove drain pan and dispose of contents in accordance with local procedures.
