HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION - Continued
MALFUNCTION
Overfilled crankcase.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Check dipstick for proper oil level. Service crankcase oil (WP 0115).
2.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
MALFUNCTION
Plugged breathers.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Clean engine breathers (TM 55-1925-205-23).
2.
After cleaning, check crankcase pressure. Contact Maintenance Supervisor.
MALFUNCTION
Excessive crankcase pressure.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
See electrical generating system troubleshooting procedure (WP 0014).
2.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
SYMPTOM
Diesel engine has high oil consumption due to internal leaks.
MALFUNCTION
Blower oil seals are leaking.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
To reveal blower oil seal leaks, expose blower end plates by removing piping from air inlet
housing and from blower (WP 0103). Operate engine at idle. Inspect end plates for evidence of
leaking, using flashlight if necessary.
2.
If oil leakage is present on end plates, repair blower. Contact Maintenance Supervisor.
3.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
