HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION - Continued
MALFUNCTION
Turbocharger seals are leaking.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
To confirm a leaking oil seal, remove the compressor housing (WP 0114) and inspect the
backplate. If the surface is wet with oil, it indicates leakage. Replace turbocharger (WP 0114).
2.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
MALFUNCTION
Oil cooler core leaking.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Repair oil cooler (WP 0128).
2.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
MALFUNCTION
Worn exhaust valve guides.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Replace worn exhaust valve guides. Contact Maintenance Supervisor.
2.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
SYMPTOM
Diesel engine has high oil consumption.
MALFUNCTION
Low compression.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Perform compression test. Contact Maintenance Supervisor. A compression check with low
readings indicates worn out cylinders. Rebuild pistons and liners. Contact Maintenance
Supervisor.
2.
Perform operational check of diesel engine (TM 55-1925-205-10).
