CLEANING
1.
Remove screw (Figure 1, Item 3) from breather retaining plate (Figure 1, Item 4).
2.
Remove retaining plate (Figure 1, Item 4), breather element (Figure 1, Item 5), and retainer
(Figure 1, Item 6) from cylinder head poppet valve rocker arm cover (Figure 1, Item 2).
3.
Remove breather housing (Figure 1, Item 1) and seal (Figure 1, Item 7) from cylinder head poppet valve
rocker arm cover (Figure 1, Item 2). Discard seal.
WARNING
Accidental or intentional introduction of liquid contaminants into the environment
may result in a violation of state, federal, and military regulations. Refer to local
environmental office for information concerning storage, use, and disposal of
these liquids. Failure to comply may cause damage to environment and health
of personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of injury.
Fuel/solvent/oil is slippery and may cause falls. Wipe up spillage immediately with
rags. Dispose of materials in accordance with local hazardous waste disposal
procedures. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury or death and/or
damage to equipment.

Using cleaning cloth and clean lubricating oil, clean breather element (Figure 1, Item 5).

Using cleaning cloth and clean lubricating oil, clean breather housing (Figure 1, Item 1).
6.
Using cleaning cloth, remove excess lubricating oil from breather element (Figure 1, Item 5) and breather
housing (Figure 1, Item 1).
7.
Using soft bristle brush, remove debris from retaining plate (Figure 1, Item 4) and retainer (Figure 1, Item 6).
