CLEANING
1.
Soak crankshaft (Figure 2, Item 6) in cleaning compound to remove dirt and oil.
WARNING
Flying particles and debris are present. Wear protective goggles. Failure to comply may
result in personnel injury or death.
2.
Use a small stiff wire brush to clean oil passages (Figure 2, Item 5).
3.
Use a wiping rag to wipe excess dirt and grease from crankshaft (Figure 2, Item 6).
WARNING
Accidental or intentional introduction of liquid contaminants into the environment is
a violation of state, federal, and military regulations. Refer to local environmental
office for information concerning storage, use, and disposal of these liquids.
Failure to comply may result in personnel injury and/or damage to environment.
Fuel/solvent/oil is slippery and may cause falls. Wipe up spillage immediately with
rags. Dispose of materials in accordance with local hazardous waste disposal
procedures. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury or death and/or
damage to equipment.
4.
Dispose of oily rags in accordance with local procedures
WARNING
Do not exceed 40 PSI (280 kPa) when using compressed air for drying components.
Failure to comply may result in serious injury to personnel.
5.
Dry crankshaft (Figure 2, Item 6) using compressed air.
