9.
Remove two rod cap hex nuts (Figure 4, Item 1) connecting rod cap (Figure 4, Item 3) and lower half of
bearing (Figure 4, Item 2).

10.
Have one soldier rotate crankshaft and push piston and liner assembly (Figure 5, Item 2) out of block
(Figure 5, Item 1).
CAUTION
Do not allow piston to fall out of cylinder liner.
If rings are allowed to expand after being removed from cylinder liner, they must be
replaced.
Failure to comply may result in damage to, or destruction of, equipment or mission.
11.
Have second soldier catch piston and liner assembly (Figure 5, Item 2).
