INSTALLATION - Continued
WARNING

CAUTION
Failure to properly lubricate the parts and tools in following procedure may result in oil seal
lip damage. Failure to comply may result in damage to equipment.
2.
Apply engine oil to oil seal expander, oil seal (Figure 2, Item 6), and crankshaft (Figure 2, Item 8) to assist
oil seal assembly installation.
3.
Using oil seal expander with guide studs, install oil pump (Figure 1, Item 3).
a.
Position oil pump (Figure 1, Item 3) on engine block (Figure 2, Item 1) over crankshaft
(Figure 2, Item 8).
b.
Install two capscrews (Figure 2, Items 3 and 5) and new lockwashers (Figure 2, Items 2 and 4)
securing oil pump assembly (Figure 1, Item 3) to engine block (Figure 2, Item 1) over crankshaft
assembly (Figure 2, Item 8).
4.
Using torque wrench, torque top two capscrews (Figure 2, Item 5) to 300 to 360 in-lb (34 to 41 Nm).
5.
Using torque wrench, torque two capscrews (Figure 2, Item 3) to 80 to 90 ft-lb (108 to 122 Nm).
6.
Position brackets (Figure 1, Item 1) on oil pump (Figure 1, Item 3).
7.
Install four capscrews (Figure 1, Item 5) and new lockwashers (Figure 1, Item 4) securing brackets
(Figure 1, Item 1) and oil pump (Figure 1, Item 3) to engine block (Figure 1, Item 2).
8.
Install two capscrews (Figure 1, Item 7) and new lockwashers (Figure 1, Item 6) securing brackets
(Figure 1, Item 1) to oil pump (Figure 1, Item 3).
9.
Using torque wrench, torque four capscrews (Figure 1, Item 5) to 80 to 90 ft-lb (108 to 122 Nm).
10.
Using torque wrench, torque top two capscrews (Figure 1, Item 8) to 300 to 360 in-lb (34 to 41 Nm).
END OF TASK
FOLLOW-ON MAINTENANCE
1.
Install lube oil distribution system (WP 0122).
2.
Install lube oil pan (WP 0127).
3.
Remove engine from stand (WP 0033).
4.
Install lube oil cooler (WP 0128).
5.
Install marine gear oil cooler mounting bracket (WP 0158).
6.
Install overspeed governor (WP 0169).
7.
Install lube oil level dipstick tube (WP 0130).
8.
Install starting motor (WP 0164).
9.
Install air box drains (WP 0037).
