Engine cool to touch
Industrial goggles (WP 0179, Table 1, Item 54)
Fresh water cooling system drained

Hazardous material spill clean-up kit

FRESH WATER COOLING SYSTEM RUBBER HOSES WITH CLAMPS REMOVAL
NOTE
The following procedure is typical for both port and starboard engines.
1.
Place drain pan under hose being removed for draining residual coolant from hose.
2.
Loosen clamps (Figure 1, Item 1) holding hose (Figure 1, Item 2) in place.
WARNING
Accidental or intentional introduction of liquid contaminants into the environment
may result in a violation of state, federal, and military regulations. Refer to local
environmental office for information concerning storage, use, and disposal of
these liquids. Failure to comply may cause damage to environment and health
of personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of injury.
Fuel/solvent/oil is slippery and may cause falls. Wipe up spillage immediately with
rags. Dispose of materials in accordance with local hazardous waste disposal
procedures. Failure to comply may result in personnel injury or death and/or
damage to equipment.
3.
Pull hose (Figure 1, Item 2) away from connection.
4.
Slide clamps (Figure 1, Item 1) off hose (Figure 1, Item 2) at both ends and set aside for reuse on new hose.
5.
Drain residual coolant into drain pan.
6.
Remove drain pan and dispose of contents in accordance with local procedures.
